Democratic Rep. Alyssa Slotkin is being supported by Republican Rep. Liz Cheney in her difficult reelection campaign in Michigan.

Cheney is a co-leader of the House January 6 committee and a vocal opponent of former President Donald Trump.

Next week, Cheney and Slotkin will run a joint campaign in Lansing.

The action is the Democrat's first endorsement of a Wyoming Republican, as a member of Cheney's staff revealed to CNBC.

Additionally, it is Cheney's first supporter following the incumbent's crushing defeat in the Wyoming GOP primary by Trump-backed candidate Harriet Heijman.

Cheney and Slotkin will campaign together in Lansing on Tuesday, the Democrats' campaign said on Thursday.
